Want your event, venue, or organization listed here? Be a member of this community in good standing. That's the whole deal.

We don't list everything that happens in town. We never have. This page just makes our line public so nobody can pretend they didn't see it.

We list organizers, events, and venues that contribute to Medicine Hat. People who show up for their neighbours, run a clean room, and don't use a community calendar as a recruiting funnel.

If that sounds like you, we'd love to have you. If it doesn't, keep reading.

• Hateful events. Doesn't matter how nicely you dress it up. Racism, homophobia, transphobia, antisemitism, Islamophobia, ableism. Take it somewhere else.
• Alberta separatist organizing. We're Canadians. Medicine Hat is in Canada. The country is not the enemy and we're not going to help you pretend otherwise.
• Anti-vaxx, anti-public-health, conspiracy-merchant gatherings. Public health saved lives in this town. We're not handing you a megaphone.
• Harassment, doxxing, stochastic-violence "jokes," militia-curious cosplay. No.
• Anyone aligned with the above. Headlining their events, hosting them, fundraising for them, sharing a board with them. Same outcome. You're not on the list either.

We decide. Solely. No committee, no appeal process, no waiting period.

We don't owe you a listing. We don't owe you a reason. We don't owe you a heads-up before you come off.

If you're off, you're off. Quietly. We're not in the business of public callouts. But we're also not going to pretend we don't know what you're doing.

Yes. There is already at least one venue and one organizer in this town we will not list, because they've thrown in with separatist organizing. They know who they are. Their regulars know. The community knows.

If their behaviour changes, our position can change. Until then: no.

We're a small team and a town with a lot going on. If we've listed someone who shouldn't be there, tell us.

We don't take reports on faith. We look. But we do look.

A community calendar isn't neutral. Putting an event on this site is a small endorsement. A nudge that says "this is a normal thing happening in your town, you should go."

We're not handing that nudge to people working against the town, the people in it, or the country we share. If you think that's unfair, build your own site. This one's ours.
